Hearts of Hope was first established 21 years ago as an NPO.
They provide care and protection in Johannesburg to vulnerable children who have been abandoned, neglected, abused and without hope.
Hearts of Hope provides a safe and protective home, which is a turning point opportunity for individualised care for each child. The housemothers, social workers and staff work tirelessly to ensure that the children thrive, building their resilience and hope for an independent future. At any given time there are 52 babies and children at the home.
Deborah has several business qualifications and a master’s in business leadership. She has worked in human resources for her entire career and has run an HR management consultancy from 1996 to date. She began her journey in the NPO world by volunteering at a children’s home in 1997 and in 2003 was part of a team that established Hearts of Hope.
Deborah is officially the CEO but is Mama Debbie to all the children. She is passionate about giving them back their childhood, with a focus on individualised care and education, with a hope-filled future.
