Black Umbrellas is a Non-Profit Company, established in 2005. They provide resources, training and support to emerging black-owned small, medium and micro enterprises.

The organisation addresses the high levels of economic inequality, that result in poverty and unemployment. Qualifying Black entrepreneurs are offered skills to confidently build businesses with a foundation for sustainable growth. They offer business development programmes and comprehensive assistance to reduce the risk of failure.

Black Umbrellas has a physical presence in four provinces, with a national footprint through its virtual incubation programme, where SMEs are trained and developed for the sustainability and scalability of their businesses. Mark Frankel is the co-founder and CEO. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and completed The Soul of Leadership programme with Dr. Deepak Chopra at the Kellogg School of Management. Mark’s extensive experience in corporate and not-for-profit sectors has proven valuable to some of South Africa’s leading entrepreneurs.
