Editor’s Note: Exciting Times Ahead At CSR News

As we step into the month of July, we can’t help but feel the wave of excitement that has engulfed CSR News in the past two weeks. With Mandela Day just around the corner, we are gearing up for a month filled with remarkable initiatives and inspiring endeavors.

One particular highlight is the article we published on modernizing Mandela Day, focusing on empowering youth. Following engaging discussions with esteemed partners like Cell C, Mutual Insure, Coca Cola, NYDA, and Safer South Africa, we embarked on a mission to chart a new path for the youth conversation. While creating jobs remains a challenge, our report on creating livelihoods is now available and brimming with comprehensive insights. We are proud to announce that the report, consisting of 70 pages of valuable content, is available for purchase. For those seeking a condensed version, we will also be printing booklets containing the key nuggets of wisdom.

Looking ahead, we are thrilled about the events unfolding this month and the next. As we build up to our birthday 10th year anniversary on August 24th, we are running a phenomenal promotional campaign. For a limited time, all article publishing on CSR News comes with the opportunity to reach over 3,000 decision makers. Take advantage of this exclusive offer priced at only ZAR9 998 rand, compared to the usual rate of ZAR25,000 rand or ZAR15,000 rand, depending on your preferences.

In the spirit of celebrating notable individuals, we extend our warm congratulations to Karabo for being recognised as the leading woman for the month of July by Sesi Fellowship. We encourage you to read her inspiring article, available here.

We are delighted to announce the launch of nominations for the prestigious Leading Woman of CSI (Corporate Social Investment) for the year 2023-2024. Following the inspiring journey of Karabo and the 12 other women recognised for this remarkable programme. We invite you to nominate deserving women who have made outstanding contributions in the field of social responsibility.

This is an opportunity to honor those who have dedicated their time, expertise, and resources to create a positive impact in their communities. We encourage you to nominate as many women as possible who have demonstrated exemplary leadership, compassion, and commitment to driving change through their CSI initiatives.

Nominations will remain open until the 14th of July, the upcoming Friday, providing ample time to acknowledge and celebrate the extraordinary women making a difference. We value your participation and look forward to recognizing the exceptional accomplishments of the nominees. Stay tuned as we announce the selected Leading Woman of CSI for the year 2023-2024, revealing the individual who will continue to inspire and shape the landscape of corporate social responsibility. Please submit your nominations and join us in applauding these extraordinary women.

We are also excited to announce the release of our first podcast episode, “Building Strong Foundations.” This inaugural chapter delves into crucial aspects of societal development, and we invite you to tune in and explore the insightful discussions.

Furthermore, we are initiating a compelling campaign called “Silence the Woman” throughout the month of August. Instead of hosting Woman’s Day events, we urge every CSI office to donate 1,000 rand towards our program dedicated to constructing homes for victims of gender-based violence. Through the Given Group Foundation, we aim to empower those who have endured unspeakable abuse and create safe spaces for them to rebuild their lives. Join us in making a difference and stand with us against gender-based violence.

As we progress, we are open to partnerships and collaborations in our shared mission to effect positive change. If you have any ideas or initiatives you would like to discuss, we eagerly await the opportunity to be your partner throughout this journey.

In this newsletter, you will discover stories about modernizing Mandela Day and the importance of building strong foundations. We sincerely thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to connecting with you in our upcoming communications.

Until next time,

Simphiwe Mtetwa
