Final judging will be in January. Stay tuned!
Afrika Tikkun
Afrika Tikkun is best known for their Cradle-to-Career 360° programmes that are designed to enrich and sustain young people from ages 0 to 35 in vulnerable communities.
Their Cradle-to-Career 360° programmes include:
● Early Child Development Programme;
● Child and Youth Development Programme;
● Youth Accelerator Programme, preparing youth for the job market;
● Career Development Programme.
Their ongoing educational programme offers a holistic solution to the whole being of every young person in their care; these include help with schoolwork, social services, healthcare, personal development and skills development, all of which are also offered to the whole community. This ensures that the personal development they focus on is truly transformational and reaches family members, neighbours and others in the community of every child they serve, for the eradication of poverty and other social ills.
Doctors Without Borders
Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, or MSF) offers practical humanitarian relief in resource-deprived situations in more than 70 countries worldwide. Their South African branch focuses primarily on HIV/TB healthcare and emergency treatment for victims of sexual and gender-based violence.
MSF also responds in times of crisis by offering healthcare and emergency treatment to people affected by natural disaster, war, pandemics and other crises.
Through their vast field-based network of MSF medical professionals and their years of experience, they are able to lead the way in times of crisis. A prime example is their response at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, when they erected field hospitals to help with the influx of patients and support our overstretched medical facilities. Through their help, patients had access to emergency treatment and chronic medications during lockdowns.
Reach for a Dream
For 33 years, Reach for a Dream has fulfilled the dreams of children fighting life-threatening illnesses.
These young children are under extreme pressure in dealing with their medical issues and are in desperate need of encouragement. Reach For A Dream offers the child a magical moment to regain their childhood that is being lost to illness.
Their projects include:
● Dream Rooms in hospitals and hospices with all sorts of special features where children can play and relax
● Virtual-reality experiences for children in Dream Rooms.
This worthy organisation raises fund through events such as the Dream Raffle and Slipper Day, which are fast becoming fixtures of our workplace calendars and are well worth supporting.
